Description
Beeswax wraps are an innovative way, eco-friendly way (and an old method revived!) to replace the use of clingwrap in our kitchen. Use them to wrap cheese, half-cut fruit and vegetables, fresh vegetables (zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage sections, pumpkin sections) to keep them fresh. Use them to wrap sandwiches and snacks for lunchboxes. Cover dishes, salad bowls, food platters for fridge storage or pre-service for parties and get-togethers.
These are made from upcycled 100% cotton fabric (obtained from clearance racks, opshops, etc) to divert them from the landfill. Coated with a mix of beeswax (locally-sourced), pine rosin and jojoba oil to provide the waterproof and tackiness (like clingwrap), the antibacterial properties of beeswax and pine rosin also helps to reduce food spoilage.
* do not use to wrap meats, fresh or cured/smoked
To clean, simply wipe down with a clean, damp washcloth, or wash in warm soapy water while you are doing the dishes, and hang over the dish-rack to dry. Do not place in the dishwasher or washing machine. Do not use in the oven or microwave, and keep away from stovetops (it is flammable). Safe to use in the fridge and freezer.
These will last at least a year with regular use and care. When they have lost their tackiness, they can be rewaxed, or composted.
